SUMMER. The last few years, winter has felt longer, colder, and snowier than ever, making these warm summer days even more precious and rejuvenating. Along with the warmer weather come some of my favorite local shows and festivals, where I get the opportunity to share what I've been working on and to spend time with other local artists. Here's a peek at what I've been up to this summer!
Marblehead Art Association Summer Member Exhibit -
I put a lot of thought into what to submit to a show. I like to submit work that the audience can connect to, while also showing how I've grown and evolved as an artist throughout the year. This year, Morning Still seemed like the perfect fit for the Summer Member Exhibit and I am happy to announce that the art association thought so too! They awarded this piece the "Claudia Kaufman Honor Award." Drop by Marblehead Art Association - Current Exhibits to check it out and hover over the image to read Diane Ayott's kind words.
Marblehead Festival of the Arts -
For many years, I have been submitting paintings to the Marblehead Festival of the Arts. For the past few summers, I have also been participating in their cod auction - decorating a wooden cod fish which is later auctioned off to raise money for the Festival’s many programs and scholarships. This year, inspired by my students’ love for doodling, I combined deep sea colors with playful doodles in white and gold.
